Why it suits the coast

A crab on the wall of a house by the sea is an obvious choice, and that is exactly the risk. The difference here lies in the execution: not a naive beach shape in blue and white, but a golden object with small mirrors that is more like a piece of jewellery than a souvenir. That keeps the reference to the sea without the room turning into a beach theme.

Where it hangs

In a hallway, a bathroom or a corridor, where the size of 27 by 43 cm is big enough to stand out and small enough not to dominate. It looks best on a dark or muted wall, which the gold stands out against. On white it loses half its effect.

Styling

The crab works alone, but also in a small group with other wall decoration. If you hang several pieces on one wall, stagger the heights and keep the gaps uneven: a strict row quickly reads like a shop display. The gold goes well with warm wood, rattan and linen.

Hanging and care

Easy to fix to the wall with a small nail. Dust with a soft, dry brush or cloth, because dust stays between the legs. No cleaning product on the golden finish. Clean the small mirrors if needed with a slightly damp cotton bud.

The small mirrors are the first thing to get dirty, because grease off fingers stays on them. So hold it by the edge when you rehang it.
