Vienne console in sculptural wood with white marble top

This console combines a sculptural wooden base with a white marble top. Where most consoles play down their base, this one does the opposite: the base has flowing lines that make the piece look different on every side, and the marble rests above it like a fresh, calm surface.

Material and finish

A base in natural wood, crafted by hand, and a top in white marble. The wood keeps its grain and colour variation. Because marble is natural stone, the veining is different in every piece. Together, wood and marble give the console a modern, warm look.

Dimensions

• 91 x 39 x 76 cm

Where it goes

This console is a little more generous, and it asks for a spot where you can see it. Against a long wall in a hallway wide enough to step back, or in a living room as a statement piece. In a tight spot the sculptural shape is lost.

Styling

Because the base already does a lot, keep what stands on it simple. Art objects, a stack of books, a lamp with a clean shape. No busy vases or bright colours, because they compete with the wood.

Care

Wipe the marble with a damp cloth and, if needed, a mild, pH-neutral soap. Acids are the enemy: wine, lemon, coffee and vinegar can damage the surface if left standing. Avoid abrasive products. Dust the wood dry, also in the curves of the shape, where a soft brush is handier than a cloth.

Good to know

The sculptural base means the console does not look equally deep everywhere. So do not only look at the dimensions of the top, but also at how the shape flares out, especially if it will stand in a passage. If you are unsure, just ask Camille.

A marble top is heavier than it looks. Move the console with two people and lift it instead of sliding it.
